L'Ecole taking shape

I have been rewarded with the task of catching up on all things Campgast,
since the initial post of this blog by dearest darling Dad.
Since that great start, however, works on the renovations (read: rebuild) have ramped up
expontenially and the long days have taken their toll on our "social networking".

Major works undertaken recently include the installation of a new roof, a new slab under the
ground floor, removal of crepe from the exterior walls, our new chestnut windows
and french doors and a second floor starting to take the shape of bedrooms and bathrooms.

...as always click on the photos to enlarge...

Big beam!!

The roof - replace and renew.

The road to Campgast (our village).

Work begins on the downstairs room.  Dig, dig, dig. Down, down, down.

Underfloor space taking shape

Big concrete pour for living room and kitchen floor.

Michael takes a well earned 'rest' and joins 5,000 on the Ariegoise cyclosportive ride.
Only 160km but more climbing than the 3 Peaks back home (less steep than Falls Creek though).

Ariegoise finish.

Frank and Joris: father and son combo making openings in our
half metre thick walls for the kitchen and fireplace.

Joris starting to reveal our stones!
We "got lucky". Not all revealed stonework in the area is as eye pleasing.

Look who's finally arrived!!!
Now everyone's smiling (at Chateau de Jumilhac le Grand).

Deborah: "We stayed in this partially renovated chateau with lots of character
 - great for getting over jet lag."

The other half being a tourist in Brantome.

Celebrating 25 years of Julie and Andrew's French abode in style!

Fireplace with boiler attached. Hot water for heating and domestic use.

Friendly helpers. Time to remove the old windows. Thanks Ally!

Last view of Puivert castle before removing the old aluminium windows.

French toaster made for croissants.  Michael is excited!

 Hey. What's this!?

Let's chuck a toilet here, eh!

Revealing the hidden beauty slowly and steadily.

Mario, happy to lend a hand.

The start of changing the downstairs windows into lovely French Doors!

Ahh, windows and french doors arrive. Yes please!

Gabriel, atelier de bois, putting the new windows in place. Trusty durry in mouth.

Happy man - love those windows!!

Another new arrival, fresh off the plane, and straight to work!
Michael: "The locals not only comment on the great stonework, but also
the talents of this young man in removing the crepe."

Skeletons of walls for the bedroom upstairs.

Mother duck oiling our beautiful timbers.

View from the backyard with the new french doors providing great direct access!

In the future:
Our futuristic heating system is installed.
Bathrooms and bedrooms take shape.
The preau (sheltered play area for the school kids) being torn down. To be replaced.

...and just confirmed - Jessica joins us to put the band back together!!!
